Background

• Investment method: Equity investment or M&A, or both, amounting to approx. USD 4.5 million.

• Investment management: We plan to use the investment for R&D (AR, AI), patent applications, marketing, etc.

Founding Story

2014: Founded; selected as a participant in the Industrial Technology Innovation Program by the Ministry of Commerce, Industry and Energy. 2015: Received seed funding from Hanbat Angel Investment Association; selected as the final participant in the SMBA-funded mentoring program. 2015: Selected as one of K-Global 300 by the Ministry of Science, ICT and Future Planning; began operating in Campus Seoul of A Google Space. 2016: Awarded Red Herring Asia 100 Winner; signed an MOU and an NDA with Samsung Electronics, Intel, and Nibiru; attracted investments from Korea Software Financial Cooperative and Capstone Partners. 2017: Launched the Beijing branch, China; mounted our gaze tracking technology onto the All-in-one HMD of Samsung Electrons at the 2017 Mobile World Congress (MWC); signed an agreement with the Chinese company Thunder Software for the purpose of developing gaze tracking technology used for Samsung Electronics VR HMD; participated in the Silicon Valley Program for the AR/VR Global R&D Commercialization Program hosted by the Ministry of Science, ICT and Future Planning.

Company Description

World-class eye and gaze tracking algorism based technology: Our world-class eye and gaze tracking algorism and gaze data analyze technology are optimized for applications to all-in-one types and a mobile virtual reality (VR) head-mounted display (HND). Because the gaze tracking technology is essential to VR related applications such as games, content, social media, shopping, and UI/UX, its importance is being recognized in a wide range of industries.

Key competitiveness, the low CPU occupancy rate (<3%): Recently, VR HMD technology and products have shifted from PC connected to mobile connected or all-in-one types. Thus, the low CPU occupancy rate is very important to effectively drive systems and reduce battery consumption in mobile environments such as smartphones. For this reason, our key competitive technology with the lowest CPU occupancy rate is rapidly gaining more attention. Our technology surely has competitive edge over other competitors’ in term of the activation of eye and gaze tracking software and the effective driving of different VR content in the mobile environment.

Possible extension to VR, AR, and MR: Google Glass or MS HoloLens is expected to lead the AR and MR markets. In this case, low power technology is essential. Our self-developed, world-class eye and gaze tracking algorism performance and low CPU occupancy rate are necessarily required not only for a VR HMD but also in the AR and MR markets. The application of the eye and gaze tracking technology to AR and MR means the possible extension of its application to a wide range of industries such as military, manufacturing, logistics, medicine, and education other than personal use.

AI-combined and network cost reduction: Our self-developed technology combined with eye tracking and AI is to estimate user intention, which can improve conversion rates in VR/AR shopping, analyze ad effects, provide competitive services for each platform such as customized marketing. Foveated rendering is a digital image processing technique in which the image resolution varies according to one or more fixation points that indicate the highest resolution region of the image and correspond to the center of the eye's retina, the fovea . This technique results in the use of data network and the GPU, thus reducing costs and efficiently managing GPU resources.
